• Thousand Oaks High's Green 4 Green Club Takes Composting Seriously
    Friday, May 11, 2018 at

  • The Green 4 Green environmental club at Thousand Oaks High School began in 2015 with its main goal to establish a compost system on campus. After a year of fundraising, the club was able to introduce the system at the beginning of the 2016/2017 school year. The club worked to expand the system and make it more efficient.

At the end of 2017, the club came up with the idea of using the composting system to support a school garden. They hoped that if students saw the direct benefit of composting (freshly grown vegetables), more students would be inspired to compost.
Students in the club were able to build two raised garden beds at the school. Green 4 Green worked with Agromin to fill the beds with soil, and now they are home to a mixture of fruits, vegetables and herbs.
